Conte to hold talks ‘next week’ over shock Tottenham move to sign free agent veteran forward

Antonio Conte will reportedly meet with Carlos Tevez next week to discuss a possible move to Tottenham.

The 38-year-old veteran is well known to Premier League audiences having played for both Manchester United and Manchester City. Indeed, the Argentine was a title winner under Roberto Mancini, having scored 73 times in his four seasons at the Etihad.

Since then, his colourful career has taken him to Italy, with Juventus, before two spells at Boca Juniors sandwiched a spell in China.

Now, currently without a club, having departed Boca in the summer, Tevez is looking to make a return to action. Indeed, the 76-times capped Argentina forward has never officially retired and is now seemingly looking to enjoy one final swansong.

As such, The Sun reports that Tevez is due at Tottenham’s training ground next week for talks with Conte. The write that Tevez will ‘reunite’ with Conte, having worked under him at Juventus over the 2013/14 season.

However, it remains unclear whether Tevez will join Conte’s coaching staff, or in some sort of playing capacity.

Spurs are not the only club Tevez is understood to be talking to, either. He was also pictured at Milan’s training base earlier this month. And he’s also seemingly spoken to both Inter Milan and Juventus too over possible roles.

MLS sides DC United and Orlando City are also sniffing around the veteran striker.

Despite the claims, a move to Tottenham looks a curious move.

Conte’s side are currently in a battle to finish fourth, sitting above Arsenal on goal difference. The Gunners, however, do have a match in hand over their north London rivals, with the two sides due to meet in a crucial clash on May 12.
