Tottenham ‘in the running’ for Serie A goalscorer despite new long-term contract – report

A report claims Tottenham are ‘in the running’ to sign Inter forward Lautaro Martinez, despite the goalscorer penning a long-term contract in Milan earlier this season.

In October, Inter announced Martinez had signed a new deal which will keep him at the club until 2026. It is worth £95,000 per week, according to Forbes.

The Argentina international, who usually plays as part of a front two, has managed 20 goals and three assists for Inter this term. That includes one in the Champions League against Liverpool, giving Inter a 1-0 victory at Anfield.

However, they couldn’t make it to the quarter-finals of the illustrious competition after losing 2-0 in the last-16 first leg.

An offer worth just over £59million should be enough to get Inter’s attention and potentially finalise a sale.

Signing Martinez would give Antonio Conte another exciting option in attack. He can already rely on Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski.

Spurs are in a decent position to qualify for the Champions League ready for next season. They are fifth and just two points
