Contact made: Tottenham identify brand new target in 'rocket' 11 g/a wing-back - report
According to a report from Italian newspaper Tuttosport (via Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a move for Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries.
The 26-year-old has been somewhat of a late bloomer on the elite European stage having spent the early stages of a professional career at Sparta Rotterdam and SC Heerenveen.
However, following a switch to Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven in 2018, the marauding full-back began to catch the eye.
Having developed a burgeoning reputation on both the domestic and international stage, Dumfries moved to Inter Milan in 2021 and now another transfer could be on the horizon…
As per Tuttosport, translated by SW, Tottenham and Bayern Munich have ‘already informed’ Inter Milan of their interest.
It’s claimed that the 32-cap Holland ace has ‘attracted the attention’ of Antonio Conte and transfer kingpin Fabio Paratici as the Italian duo attempt to bolster the squad at N17.
Furthermore, the report states that bids in the region of €35-40million (£29-33.5million) for the man once described as a ‘rocket’ by Marcus Bent would ‘probably be accepted’.
Despite the recent reemergence of Matt Doherty prior to picking up a season-ending knee injury, Conte is likely to enter the transfer market in order to find the ideal solution to fit into the right wing-back role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Both Emerson and Doherty have tried their hand in the role but with strong passing, aerial ability and concentration (WhoScored), as well as the required stamina and indeed experience to withstand the demands, stylistically Dumfries has all the hallmarks of a perfect candidate to strengthen the Lilywhites’ ranks.
This season the Dutchman has directly contributed to 11 goals in 39 appearances
