Connor Goldson sets Rangers 3 game challenge as he maps out plan to catch Celtic THIS season

It's the final countdown for Rangers as they prepare for their last 10 games of the campaign. But Connor Goldson reckons his side’s chances of finally firing up the rockets and igniting a stuttering season will be decided in the three explosive shoot-outs they have remaining with Celtic this term.

There could yet be an 11th if Michael Beale’s side can mount a successful lift-off at Hampden and soar past Ange Postecoglou’s rampant Hoops in this month’s Scottish Cup semi-final showdown. It’s a winner-takes-all affair, where either Gers’ status as holders or Celtic ’s treble dreams will crash and burn.

The mission prospects, however, are nowhere near as promising when it comes to Gers’ Premiership ambitions. With a nine-point deficit and a massive goal difference to be overcome in the nine games remaining, Goldson realises Rangers ’ only hope is to somehow back up a victory at Celtic Park next Saturday with another win when they welcome their bitter rivals back to Ibrox after the split – all the while hoping for favours elsewhere.

But while that possibility remains, no matter how slim it may be, Goldson is holding on to the hope that the Light Blues can finally find a trophy trajectory. The Ibrox centre-back said: “First and foremost we play against Dundee United this weekend which is an important game. We need to keep winning, keep confidence high and push the league as far as we can.

“Then we move on. We’ve got three Old Firms and we have to show a better face than we did in the Viaplay Cup Final. We need to get something out of all three of them if we want to salvage the season.
