Connor Barron checks in at Rangers as Clement's big summer kicks off with new recruits on board

New Rangers signing Connor Barron was snapped arriving at Auchenhowie as the Light Blues squad reported back for day one of pre-season.

The 21-year-old midfielder has signed a four-year deal at Ibrox after leaving Aberdeen after leaving the Dons at the expiration of his contract, although the Pittodrie side will be entitled to a fee of £525,000 unless Rangers test their luck by taking it to a tribunal. The Scotland U21 international made 76 first team appearances for Aberdeen after rising through the club's youth academy but will now be desperate to establish himself under Phillippe Clement in Govan.

He is the Belgian manager's fifth capture of the summer following the signings of Jefte, Clinton Nsiala and Oscar Cortes - with the latter rejoining the Gers on a loan from Lens with an obligation to buy next year. The Gers are poised to strengthen their squad even further after agreeing a deal with FAR Rabat for Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane while Bayern Munich winger Yusuf Kabadayi is also a target despite interest from Turkish duo Fenerbahce and Beskitas.

Clement, his staff and other members of the playing squad were also pictured arriving through the gates at the Rangers Training Centre for the start of pre-season as they look to bounce back from a disappointing end to the previous campaign where they missed out on both the Premiership title and the Scottish Cup to rivals Celtic.
