Concerned fans ask questions as they think Tom Hanks looks different on BBC's The One Show

Oscar-winning icon Tom Hanks warmed hearts as he appeared on BBC's The One Show sofa to chat about his new film. The American film legend was joined by Austin Butler his co-star in the new Baz Luhrmann film Elvis.

Ahead of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations the Forrest Gump. Philadelphia, Cast Away and Saving Private Ryan star regaled hosts Emma Willis and Jermaine Jenas with his charming story about the time he had dinner seated next to Her Majesty the Queen and discovered her drink of choice.

He told Emma and Jermaine that they had a 'nice chit chat' with subjects including how often she really has time off. But then the 65-year-old actor was thrown by a white-gloved hand placing a clear drink between himself and the Queen.

"I saw a white-gloved hand just put between me and her royal majesty a glass of water. But it wasn't in a water glass. It was a clear liquid," he recalled.

And he continued: "So I dared to ask the Queen 'what is your majesty's cocktail of choice?' and she said 'oh martini.' She's had a wonderful reign so maybe if I want to polish up my game I'll start drinking martinis."

As he chatted worried fans commented that the Splash and Big star appears to have lost weight. @McCallum_121 tweeted: "Watching the @BBCTheOneShow thinking @tomhanks had lost lots of weight. #TomHanks #TheOneShow."
