'Complete package' - Improvements Manchester City stopper must make in Bolton loan pinpointed

Ian Evatt feels promising young goalkeeper James Trafford can improve all areas of his game in this upcoming season at Bolton Wanderers in his loan from Manchester City.

Trafford is spending the full campaign on loan at Wanderers from Pep Guardiola's side. He spent the second half of last season at the Whites from City in a successful spell.

The 19-year-old has begun the season as the club's number one goalkeeper, with Joel Dixon close behind him in the pecking order in a competitive goalkeeping department at the League One side. Trafford made some fine stops in the League One season opener against Ipswich Town.

Evatt belives the City youngster has a strong mentality and attitude and feels Trafford will need both given he has aspirations of playing for both the Etihad Stadium club and England in the future. Trafford turned out for England under-21s earlier this year.

Though pleased with where Trafford is at, Evatt feels that the young goalkeeper can still improve in all areas. He hopes that this season will see further progression from the teenager this campaign.

Evatt told the Manchester Evening News: “We know he is a very good goalkeeper and he has got a strong mentality and attitude. You are going to need to have if you have aspirations of playing for England and Manchester City, and that is where he is at at the moment.

"You have to be strong between the ears and he is a confident boy, there is no doubt about that. In terms of his improvement, we feel he can improve all areas of his game.
