Cole Palmer disagrees with 'top form' question after Man City Super Cup goal

Cole Palmer insists there is more to come after he scored in the UEFA Super Cup final for Manchester City.

Palmer added to his lovely Community Shield goal earlier this month with a start in the Super Cup, and he justified his place by heading home Rodri's second-half cross to level the scores vs Sevilla. Palmer was a constant menace to the Sevilla defence, forcing goalkeeper Bono into a number of smart saves and getting City back in the game.

After scoring the deflected winner in the Under-21 Euros final over the summer, Palmer is full of confidence at present, but disagreed with a question that he is currently playing at his full potential.

Asked by TNT Sports whether he feels he is playing at his best this summer, Palmer simply replied: "Not yet, it's early in the season."

"It's one of the first games of the season. I have to kick on from here," he added.

Captain for the night Kyle Walker offered a little more insight into Palmer's potential, saying he is in the perfect place to continue to improve and learn from world-class players and coaches.

Walker said: "This guy is incredible. He's got good players to learn off and the best manager in the world. He just needs to keep going, keep his feet on the floor which he does really well. Keep scoring goals.

"He's got one in the Community Shield, one in the Super Cup. If he keeps improving and keeps listening to me and he'll be fine!"

Jack Grealish was also asked about Palmer's impact, saying: "That's what you have to do as a young lad. I was in that position at Aston Villa. You have to perform when given the chance and he's done that. He's such a nice kid, I'm so happy for him."
