Colby Covington's broken tooth revealed after Jorge Masvidal's alleged assault
New pictures show Colby Covington‘s broken tooth after Jorge Masvidal allegedly attacked him outside of a steakhouse in Florida earlier this year.
The former interim UFC welterweight champion, 34, has accused Masvidal, 37, of running up to him from his left and punching him twice in the face outside Papi Steak restaurant – claiming he suffered ‘a brain injury’ from the alleged assault.
After being taken into custody in March, Masvidal was charged with aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm and criminal mischief by Miami Beach Police.
New pictures released as Masvidal’s legal counsel Cohen & McMullen filed two motions on Monday show Covington missing half of one of his front teeth.
In photos obtained by MMA Junkie, the American MMA fighter’s face also appears to be red and slightly swollen with what looks like a slight bruise under his right eye.
But Masvidal’s lawyer Brad Cohen argues that it’s unclear where those injuries came from as Covington ‘received several serious blows to the head’ during the main event of UFC 272 on March 5.
He also argued that the evidence ‘clearly’ contradicts Covington’s allegations, claiming he was seen facing the individual he identified as Masvidal rather than allegedly getting hit from behind in ‘exclusive footage’.
Masvidal is alleged to have turned up at the restaurant where Covington was enjoying a meal with the NELK Boys on March 21, before waiting for him to come outside.
He allegedly hit him twice in the face, breaking a tooth and causing a bruise on his right cheek, and also caused $15,000 worth of damage to his gold Rolex.
Recalling his loss to Covington, Masvidal was left frustrated with himself after failing to get the job done.
