Cody Rhodes: WWE ‘still under the impression’ Rhodes’ is returning for WrestleMania

Cody Rhodes was again a no-show on Raw last night, but WWE are still under the impression he is returning for WrestleMania.

There had been some speculation that Rhodes may make his long-awaited WWE return during last night’s Monday Night Raw, which emulated from Jacksonville in Florida. Kicking-off his much-expected WrestleMania programme with Seth Rollins. However, once again fans were disappointed as there was no sign of The American Nightmare.

However, according to Dave Meltzer the planned Rollins v Rhodes match for WrestleMania is still going to happen, unless things change again between now and the event in two week’s time.

Everyone there is (under that impression). The impression is that Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins is the WrestleMania match.

He’s coming. I mean, that’s it, he’s coming, he’s wrestling Seth at WrestleMania, unless something changes.

Reports have gone back and forth on Cody’s return to WWE, but it seems there remains some confidence that he will re-sign with the company, and they can proceed with the plan for Dallas for a match with Seth Rollins.

Once again on Raw last night we saw Rollins squander another opportunity to be part of WrestleMania. Losing in the show’s main event to Kevin Owens in a match where the victor would be granted Stone Cold Steve Austin as a guest on their respective talk shows.

With that defeat it leaves the path clear for WWE to still go ahead with the WrestleMania meeting between Rollins and Rhodes but look to also have a back-up plan for The Visionary if Cody’s return isn’t sealed in time. Rollins could instead challenge Finn Balor for the United States Championship after recently being placed in that spot alongside Damian Priest on WWE Live events this past week.
