Clyde end run of TWENTY-ONE games without a win after crucial Peterhead result

Clyde boss Jim Duffy says his side got the breaks their hard work in recent weeks deserved as they claimed a massive three points over fellow strugglers Peterhead - ending a run of 21 games without a win.

The Bully Wee hadn't tasted victory since a 3-0 success at home to Kelty Hearts way back in August last year, but a 1-0 victory on Saturday moved them three points clear of the Blue Toon at the bottom of the table in the battle to beat automatic relegation from League One.

It is a straight shootout between the two sides with eighth-place Kelty a whopping 18 points ahead of Clyde, who currently occupy the relegation play-off spot.

And Saturday's 1-0 win, courtesy of a Cameron Salkeld strike eight minutes from time at New Douglas Park, means it is advantage Clyde in the basement battle.

Peterhead did miss some glaring opportunities with Josh Oyinsan twice hitting the bar in the early stages and some last-ditch defending from Clyde keeping the visitors at bay in the second half.

And Duffy said: "It was a really tough match and I think you could feel the tension in the game at times.

"Both teams gave absolutely everything but all I can look at is my team. They've put a lot of effort in with little reward in recent games but this time we got one or two week breaks.

"Peterhead had a couple of unbelievable chances and missed them, but we had a couple of chances in the first half as well.

"With the energy and commitment, we deserved the three points.

"It was a real team effort and it has been a while coming, that we've been able to enjoy three points over a weekend."

A trip to fourth-place FC Edinburgh follows on Saturday and Duffy hopes ending that long winless streak will help his side kick on.
