Clyde double signing swoop sees defender return for a second spell

Rutherglen ace Craig Howie has returned to Clyde as part of a double signing swoop for the Bully Wee.

The 27-year-old is back for a second spell after being unveiled alongside attacking midfielder Robbie Leitch on Thursday.

He is back in Scotland following a stint in Australia with East Perth and has penned a deal until the end of the season.

Howie initially joined Clyde from Lowland League East Kilbride in summer 2019 and went on to make 50 appearances before earning a move up the divisions to join Alloa Athletic two years later.

During his stint, Howie scored twice and bagged the club’s goal of the season prize in 2020/21 for a fine volley against Peterhead.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Leitch joins Ian McCall’s side until May 2025, having recently left League One outfit Edinburgh City.

The former Falkirk and Cove Rangers man brings plenty of SPFL experience as Clyde seek to haul themselves off the foot of the table in League Two.

Boss Ian McCall said: “I’m delighted to add both Craig and Robbie to our squad. Craig has pace and good physical attributes and is another proven player at League 1 level.

“He’s been at the club before and was well liked in his last spell, and I’m sure he’ll prove popular with the fans again.

“Robbie also has plenty of experience and is capable of playing in League 1. He’s a creative player and can get around the pitch, and he will chip in with goals and assists too.”
