Club figure makes claim over Darren Ferguson’s Peterborough United future

Peterborough United co-owner Dr Jason Neale has told the club’s fans on social media that Darren Ferguson will still be the club’s manager even if they are relegated back to Sky Bet League One. 

The comments were made by Neale in the wake of the Posh losing 1-0 at home to Preston North End at the weekend in the Championship.

Posh have now won just once in their last 15 league outings, however they remarkably remain in a survivable position, with getting a win over fellow strugglers Reading this week meaning that they could jump out of the releagtion zone.

Now the co-owner has had his say on his manager’s future at the Weston Homes Stadium as he stated the following recently:

“Nobody is sacking Darren Ferguson. He will be here next season regardless of the outcome of this season. Let’s not forget we were promoted nine months ago. Let’s stay positive. Three points on Wednesday and we are out of the relegation zone.”

Ferguson has done a great job since coming back to Peterborough and clearly still has the backing of his superiors at a crucial stage of the season.

It will certainly be interesting to see if they maintain that backing if the club continues to lose out in the league.

The Verdict 

The Posh are a club that tend to maintain a stable persona, so therefore it is understandable that they are keen to keep Ferguson in place no matter what happens over the next few months.

He has been part of their story on more than one occasion, which shows that both parties are a good fit for each other.

There is still plenty of games left, so it is perhaps unfair that some Peterborough fans are writing him off at present.
