Club confirms talks with Bristol City over agreement for teenager

Guernsey FC have confirmed that talks are ongoing with Bristol City about an agreement for teenager Ben Acey – with the Robins hoping to land another Alex Scott. 

Scott joined the South West club in 2020 and is enjoying a breakthrough season at Ashton Gate, having featured 22 times and become a key fixture in Nigel Pearson’s starting XI already.

It seems the Robins feel they may have found another impressive talent as Guernsey announced yesterday via their official Twitter account yesterday that Acey had spent the past fortnight on trial with the Championship club.

The central midfielder has featured twice for the U18s, against QPR and Swansea City, and started for the U23s in the 2-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic in the Professional Development League yesterday.

As per Bristol Live, it wasn’t the easiest afternoon for Acey against an Addicks midfield that moved the ball quickly but the trialist did manage to impose himself on the game defensively.

It appears he’s done enough to impress the Robins coaches, however, with talks now said to be ongoing about an agreement going forward.

Guernsey boss Tony Vance has a strong relationship with City’s Academy Director Brian Tinnion, which has likely played a part in lining up the move.
