Cliodhna Moloney recalled to Ireland squad after two-year exile

Cliodhna Moloney has been recalled to the Ireland squad for the first time since November 2021.

The Wasps hooker had not featured for her country since she was a high-profile omission from the squad for the 2022 Six Nations, months after she described comments made by the then IRFU women's director Anthony Eddy as "slurry spreading".

The 30-year-old has now been drafted back in and will join Scott Bemand's squad for next week's training at the IRFU High Performance Centre ahead of the third round of Six Nations fixtures which will see Ireland take on Wales on Saturday, 13 April in Cork, following back-to-back defeats to France and Italy.

Meanwhile, full back Lauren Delany is expected to resume full training next week and in the meantime will continue her return to play protocols, while second row Ruth Campbell will continue her rehab for a hand injury, which had ruled her out of the earlier rounds of the tournament.

Backs Ailsa Hughes and Kate Flannery have made their returns to their clubs, while Natasja Behan and Clare Gorman have travelled to Hong Kong for this weekend's HSBC SVNS tournament.
