"Clearly there is still a problem" - Journalist notices "issue" between Chelsea star and Tuchel

Romelu Lukaku and Thomas Tuchel both need to shoulder the blame for the former’s ongoing struggles at Chelsea, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Lukaku rejoined Chelsea in August after scoring 64 goals in 95 appearances for Inter Milan, but things have failed to click for him at Stamford Bridge.

The 6 foot 3 striker started the campaign well when he scored on his second Chelsea debut against Arsenal, and he backed that up by bagging a brace against Aston Villa the following month.

Shortly afterwards, though, he was sidelined through injury, and he was then eased back into action by making a number of substitute appearances upon his return.

This led to him giving an interview to Sky Italia in December, where he appeared to question Tuchel’s tactics.

Tuchel did bring him back into the fold after this, but he has opted to play Kai Havertz ahead of Lukaku in Chelsea’s last three league games, plus their Carabao Cup final clash with Liverpool last month.

Brown thinks Lukaku and Tuchel are struggling to work together effectively, and believes they are both accountable for the current situation.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Brown said: “Clearly there is still a problem and an issue there. I think there’s blame on both sides, really. I think Lukaku has tried to do some of the things that the manager wants, but he isn’t doing the kind of things that Kai Havertz does.”

Havertz has arguably been Chelsea’s best player over the past month, suggesting that Lukaku has his work cut out.

The German forward has scored four goals in his last three Premier League appearances, while he also got on the scoresheet in the first leg of Chelsea’s last 16 Champions League tie against Lille.
