Antonio Rudiger: Chelsea star scored screamer in heavy Brentford loss

Chelsea were embarrassed by Brentford in their Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues went into the game as the favourites but they succumbed to a heavy defeat.

Chelsea took the lead in the 47th minute through Antonio Rudiger.

But three Brentford goals in 10 minutes, courtesy of Vitaly Janelt (2) and Christian Eriksen, turned the game on its head.

Yoane Wissa then completed the scoring in the 87th minute as Brentford picked up all three points.

Chelsea may have been defeated heavily, but Rudiger’s opener deserves some appreciation.

The German defender seems to attempt an audacious 40-yard effort almost every game. They never come off.

That is until today.

Rudiger stormed forward and had a go from 40 yards. He made perfect contact as his effort clipped off the post and into the net.

It was a rocket and you can watch it below…

Rudiger then produced a brilliant celebration as he pulled a funny face and sprinted to Thomas Tuchel.

Unfortunately, the goal meant nothing in the grand scheme of things as Chelsea lost 4-1.

Still, it’s surely a contender for Premier League goal of the season.

Thomas Tuchel ripped into his side after the game as he accused them of ‘stopping defending’.
