Sheffield Wednesday have quietly been one of the best teams in League One since the turn of the year with Darren Moore seemingly finding the right balance at Hillsborough Stadium.

The midfield three of George Byers, Massimo Luongo and the evergreen Barry Bannan has played a key role in that and will continue to do so in the Owls’ promotion pursuit.

With Sunderland and Wycombe Wanderers stalling in the last few months a play-off place appears to be up for grabs for Wednesday and the dynamic midfield trio have set the tone in their more dominant performances.

The midfield trio have been excellent this season and had an important part to play in Sheffield Wednesday’s success this season.

Wednesday have scored 72% of their goals from open play this season, as per WhoScored, showing us the impact the midfield are having on the goals Darren Moore’s side are scoring this season.

Furthermore, Bannan remains Sheffield Wednesday’s joint top scorer this season alongside Lee Gregory on eight goals each.

Furthermore he also has nine assists to his name.
