Claressa Shields vs Savannah Marshall: Molly McCann "cannot f***ing wait" for blockbuster fight

A date for the highly anticipated Claressa Shields vs Savannah Marshall title fight has finally been confirmed and excitement is rapidly building.

The two will lock horns at the O2 Arena in London on September 10th, marking the first time the UK will host an undisputed women’s world title fight.

It’s not just boxing fans who are eager to see the two women finally enter the ring either. Fellow combat sport stars including Molly McCann are hyping up the clash.

The UFC icon posted on her Twitter comparing the upcoming Shields vs Marshall bout to the historic match between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano earlier this year.

Back in April, Taylor and Serrano made history when they became the first female boxers to headline the famous Madison Square Garden.

The fight, which saw The Bray Bomber retain her undisputed lightweight titles, was described by many as the biggest women’s boxing match of all time.

Certainly, the magnitude of the fight was unrivalled and will forever remain a landmark moment in women’s boxing. However, the clash between bitter rivals Shields and Marshall is already highly regarded as another big milestone for growing the sport.

Meatball Molly can hardly contain her excitement ahead of the fight.

“Great gamesmanship and you know there will be a second and maybe third [round], I cannot f**king wait.”
