Christy Ring, Nicky Rackard, and Lory Meagher round-up

In the Christy Ring Cup, there were wins for Meath, Tyrone and Sligo, while Armagh, Donegal and Wicklow were victorious in the opening round of the Nicky Rackard Cup.

Meath had two points to spare over Mayo in Navan - 2-20 to 0-24. Jack Regan fired 1-11 for the victors, with Eamon O Donnchadha raising the other green flag.

Cormac Phillips accounted for 0-13 of Mayo's scores in a game where the westerners could never get their noses in front.

Sligo got the better of London on a 2-20 to 1-20 scoreline at Markievicz Park. Joe McHugh's late goal proved to be the difference, with Diarmuid Hanniffy also finding the net for the hosts.

Tyrone and Derry finished all square at 2-20 apiece in their clash at O'Neills Healy Park. The visitors were eight points to the good at the break, thanks to a goal from John Mullan. Lorcan Devlin got Tyrone back in it with his major on 45 minutes. However, Derry responded with a second goal, courtesy of a penalty driven home by Cormac O'Doherty.

Still the hosts kept plugging away and Sean Óg Grogan netted five minutes from time to draw the sides level. Points were exchanged thereafter and the sides eventually could not be separated.

In the Nicky Rackard Cup, Armagh, Donegal and Wicklow all enjoyed victories.

Armagh accounted for Roscommon by 2-24 to 0-18 at Dr Hyde Park, avenging the loss to the Rossies in the recent Division 3A final.

Conor Renaghan and Eoin McGuinness goaled for the victors, with captain Fionntán Donnelly chipping in with 0-11.

Donegal ran out 1-21 to 0-18 winners over 14-man Fermanagh in Letterkenny. Brian Teehan saw red for the Ernesiders on 45 minutes at a point when the visitors were still ahead following a Liam McKinney goal for Donegal.
