Christian Eriksen sets Andre Onana challenge at Manchester United with David de Gea comment

Christian Eriksen says Andre Onana has got “a lot to follow” after David de Gea’s long stay at Manchester United but predicts he will fit in well and says he offers the team a new dimension.

The Cameroon star seems to have settled in already having berated Harry Maguire for poor defending in United’s 3-2 friendly loss to Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas, his second appearance for the Reds.

The goalkeeper only joined up with the squad 10 days ago after his arrival from Inter Milan but his brilliant passing has already been noted. He took over the No.1 jersey from De Gea, who showed his vulnerability with the ball at his feet last season and left at the end of his contract in June.

Eriksen said he was sad to see the Spaniard leave Old Trafford after 12 years of service but backed Onana to succeed in his place. Asked by Sky Sports what Onana brings to United post-Dortmund, Eriksen said: ”A different style.
