Chris Wilder 'snubs' Aberdeen after Pittodrie talks as manager target decides against Premiership switch

Chris Wilder is reported to have said no to Aberdeen after contact from the Pittodrie club over potentially replacing Jim Goodwin.

Record Sport broke the story that Wilder had been approached by the Dons board for talks after he initially made his interest clear. He was one of a number of targets sounded out by Dave Cormack with Danny Cowley and former Poland manager Czeslaw Michniewicz among an extensive list of other names potentially in the frame.

After initial talks with the board though it is reported Wilder is no longer interested in the job. The Scottish Sun reported on Wednesday that the former Middlesbrough and Sheffield United manager has decided the job is not for him and will look elsewhere for his return to football. Wilder, who took United from League One to the Premier League and was hailed for his tactical innovation, would have been a major coup for the Pittodrie side who it now seems will have to look elsewhere.
