Cho Gue sung ditches Celtic transfer regret as question about Oh in Glasgow leads to telling answer

Cho Gue-Sung has laughed off a question about Hyeongyu Oh's Celtic success - with the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors striker's confidence put under scrutiny.

Cho was on Celtic's radar in January after catching the eye at the World Cup, but would opt to remain in the K-League to focus on his fitness levels and pursue a summer transfer to European football. Ange Postecoglou would instead turn to Oh, who has made an instant impression on the Parkhead faithful following his move from the Suwon Bluewings netting four goals so far this term.

The 22-year-old has caught the attention of national boss Jurgen Klinsmann since arriving in Scotland while helping Celtic claim the Scottish Premiership title - and could also end the season with a Scottish Cup winners medal. In contrast, Cho has struggled for form and fitness following his heroics in Qatar with the 25-year-old netting just one goal so far this season.

After returning from a two-month injury layoff, Cho was put on the spot about any regrets he had over snubbing a move to Europe - with Oh used as the prime example of what can be achieved. Asked about Oh’s “growth” at Celtic and if he should have been more “confident” over a move, by Korean outlet Cho Sun he laughed: “It is important to stay in shape right now and I will get better in the future.

"So I don’t worry too much about it. I think it is important to keep in good shape. Now, if I find my dream again, I think it will be really good. Don't worry too much. If you work hard, you will be fine.”
