Celtic killer is Rangers transfer saviour as bitter Hotline turf war sees regular branded an insufferable motormouth

Rangers are in the market for another striker this summer with Alfredo Morelos’ six-year stint in Govan set to end. And according to one Hotline caller the answer might just lie at Celtic Park - at leat on Saturday he reckons it did.

Curtis Main is the unlikely recommendation after his double helped St Mirren earn a point at the home of the champions. Rangers followed up with a 3-1 win at Hibs on Sunday but without a recognised striker in the starting XI again.

Robert Livingstone, Palm Beach, said: “Curtis Main was very impressive against Celtic, a strongly built centre who can out muscle defenders and was very unlucky not to have scored a treble. Is it worth Rangers having a look at this guy? Michael Beale bringing in free transfer light weights from overseas is no answer to Rangers’ biggest problem - finding a couple of big goal scorers. Yet they're staring him in the face - Lawrence Shankland, Kevin van Veen and now Main.”

Andrew Lamb has concerns at the other end of the park. He emailed: “Saddened to read of a bad injury to Connor Goldson. I would love to see a good left-sided centre back signed to play alongside John Souttar.”

Meanwhile Stuart McLeod, Stepps, was delighted with the performance of his side. He said: “I wonder how regular Rangers detractor Neil Renton must be feeling this week after his Hibs side were put to the sword by Rangers. Neil was telling us last week that the Rangers fans were getting carried away after a victory over Celtic and that they were bang average. This average Rangers team easily seen off an awful Hibs side. People should learn to focus on their own teams.”

But Jack Armstrong, Bathgate, said: “It's great to see the Rangers fans so ecstatic in the games that don't matter trophy.
