Chilling moment a dad, 61, was pushed over outside a pub - a week later he was dead

CCTV footage shows the moment a 61-year-old dad was pushed over outside a pub in Wigan just days before Christmas. A week later, he was dead.

Roy Halliwell was violently shoved to the ground by 58-year-old Carl Sinclair, who had followed him to the venue on December 22 last year after he had been seen 'nonsensically shouting' at him and threatening him.

Sinclair, of Cemetery Road, Ince, then fled the scene, leaving dad Roy, who had hit his head in the fall, lying on the ground. He was taken to hospital but tragically died a week later from his injuries.

The 58-year-old appeared at Bolton Crown Court via live link from HMP Forest Bank for sentencing after he pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to charges of manslaughter. He has been jailed for five years and six months.

Detective Inspector Chris Preston of GMP Wigan Division, said: “Sinclair’s actions that night were callous and reckless, and they have devastated the lives of Roy’s family and friends.
