Chiefs a work in progress, says under-fire coach Arthur Zwane

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has come under increased criticism following a poor start to the season that has seen them win only two of seven league games.

Zwane told reporters that Chiefs were a work in progress and maintained full belief that they will turn their season around.  

Chiefs currently sit a lowly 14th in the DStv Premiership standings

"It's quite difficult that the results are fluctuating. But the good thing about it is that we know what we want to achieve, we know where we want to see ourselves. It's a work in progress obviously".  

Asked about his side's inconsistency, Zwane highlighted the poor finishing as a contributing factor as well as his side's individual defensive mistakes. 

"It can happen any given time (on when stability will arrive)... you know it's a matter of consistency. You look at the goal scoring opportunities we create, the opposition's chances they create against us, you know against Marumo, it's just the mistake. We conceded the goal but they had nothing. 

"When you look at us, we had more box entries. We were just unfortunate not to connect with the right player. But we could have done better in terms of taking those opportunities". 

With the transfer window closing in a week's time, Zwane reiterated that there's no need for reinforcements. 

"No, we are not looking at bringing in players. We still have to look at the squad. We focus more on the positives to give us direction, if we can start bringing in those goals and making less mistakes at the back, then we'll get it right, we're on the right track".  

Chiefs' next opponents are high-flying SuperSport United and Zwane was full of praise for his compatriot and former Chiefs coach, Gavin Hunt.
