Cheshire's most sought-after areas where house prices are plummeting - including Harry Styles' hometown

House prices in many parts of the UK are coming down a considerable amount, which is a great sign for first-time buyers. According to Nationwide's latest house price index, the average cost of a home across the country has dropped by 5.3 percent over the last 12 months.

Those who are wanting to purchase a property in Cheshire may now be able to buy a house for a cheaper price, especially in some of the region's most sought-after areas. Whilst house prices in some parts of Cheshire are still rising, some towns and villages, which have this year been named amongst the best places to live in the region, have plummeted.

Those include four of the county's most desirable areas including Lymm, Tarporley, Wilmslow - and even popstar Harry Styles' hometown of Holmes Chapel, reports CheshireLive. Here we look at how much property prices have fallen in each area, and what the average cost of a home is now.

Earlier this year Lymm was named amongst Britain's 50 most desirable towns by The Telegraph. The picturesque village in the heart of Cheshire boasts numerous bars, restaurants and pubs, with beautiful walks around the village.

House prices in Lymm fell by £8,496 on average over the 12 months to August, compared to the previous 12 months, taking the average cost of a home from £438,759 down to £430,263.

CheshireLive readers voted Holmes Chapel as the best place in the county to reside in a March poll, and it's also famed for being the village where popstar and former One Direction member Harry Styles grew up.
