Chelsea vs Arsenal: 5 potential match-winners in the WSL’s title decider

Chelsea take on Arsenal in the Women’s Super League on Friday in a match that could define this year’s title race. 

Right now, the division is perfectly poised. The Gunners sit top, but Chelsea are just two points behind as it stands and could leapfrog their rivals with victory at Kingsmeadow. 

Chelsea also have one game in hand on Arsenal, meaning it’s imperative that Jonas Eidevall’s side get at least something out of this game. 

The two teams have already met twice this season. Arsenal prevailed the first weekend of the season at the Emirates, yet it was the Blues who stole the bragging rights at Wembley in the FA Cup final. 

It’s Emma Hayes’ team that enters this match in better form, having won their last four matches. Meanwhile, the Gunners have just one win from their past four league matches.

With so much at stake, here are five players who could make a decisive impact in the biggest game of the season so far: 

Fran Kirby has been relatively out of sorts of late, so the resurgence of Guro Reiten has been a much-needed boost for Hayes’ side. 

The Norwegian has three goals and three assists in her past three games, which is more than she managed in the whole of last season. 

With Ji So-yun back from the Asian Cup, it will be interesting to see if Reiten does start the match. If she does feature, she is likely to be a goal-scoring threat on current form.
