Wayne Rooney: David Moyes once recounted story when Everton striker shot fireworks at Gravesen

Amazon will release their latest sporting documentary on Friday, which is set to shine a spotlight on the illustrious career of Manchester United and Everton legend Wayne Rooney.

The documentary, simply entitled ‘Rooney’, will delve into some of the incredible stories and scandals the 36-year-old encountered during his trophy-laden career.

Perhaps one of the most decorated footballers to ever grace the Premier League, Rooney notably won five league titles and one Champions League trophy during his time at Old Trafford.

The former England captain now plies his trade as the manager of Derby County and by all accounts, is doing a remarkable job, trying to help the Rams evade relegation this season.

But his career started back in 2001 when the boyhood Evertonian joined the Blues’ academy.

The Liverpudlian would go on to turn out for the club’s senior side just two years later in 2002, becoming the then-youngest scorer in the history of the top flight, announcing himself to the footballing world with THAT goal against Arsenal in 2002.

He spent a further two years at the Toffees under the stewardship of David Moyes, who once hilariously recounted a story of some of the antics Rooney used to get up to at Everton’s training ground.

In an interview with Open Goal Sport, Moyes recalled a simply bizarre story that involved Rooney, Danish midfielder Thomas Gravesen and some fireworks.

“They were in the gym at Bellefield [Everton’s old training ground]. It was an old gym and at the time it was around 60-yards long,”
