Chelsea: Tuchel 'frustration' now 'impacting players' at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is ‘not himself’ at the moment and is starting to hamper the performances of his squad, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Blues narrowly beat West Ham United 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday but it was another unconvincing display from the west Londoners.

Ben Chilwell was the hero on Saturday, coming off the bench to score and assist against the Hammers and pick up a valuable three points.

Maxwel Cornet thought he had grabbed a late equaliser for David Moyes’ side only for the goal to be ruled out following a controversial VAR intervention.

The PGMOL (Professional Game Match Official’s Board) have since accepted the decision was wrong, all but confirming that Tuchel and his team got very lucky in the dying moments.

It came just days after Southampton were victorious against Chelsea on the south coast. This season has also seen the two-time European champions beaten 3-0 by Leeds United.

Following defeat to the Saints, Tuchel bemoaned his side’s strength, accusing them of not being tough enough, adding that they are ‘too easy’ to get the better of.

Despite these recent results, Chelsea remain in sixth place and sit just three points behind Brighton & Hove Albion, who occupy fourth.

Jones says that Tuchel’s situation is currently key at Stamford Bridge, adding that the German does not seem to be himself.

The journalist adds that his frustration is starting to have an adverse effect on his players too.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I think one of the key situations is going to be Thomas Tuchel. He seems to be very frustrated and he’s not himself at the moment. I think that’s having an impact on some of the players in his team and certainly on some of the performances.”
