Chelsea's Beth England takes brutal shot to face during Arsenal win

A sunny Sunday afternoon at Kingsmeadow saw Chelsea book their spot in the FA Cup final after beating Arsenal 2-0, thanks to goals from Guro Reiten and Ji So-yun.

The two superb strikes secured the Blues’ ticket to Wembley, where they will face Manchester City to defend their crown.

But despite the headline-worthy goals, an incident involving Bethany England has become one of the main talking points from the match.

Chelsea struggled to find their groove in the first half of the clash, with Arsenal making their London rivals work hard early on.

England, who made her fourth consecutive start for Emma Hayes, fell victim to the Gunners’ pressure when she took a shot of the ball straight to the face.

Leah Williamson had attempted a shot on the half-volley just outside the box, blasting an attempt towards the Chelsea goal.

England rushed the Arsenal defender, looking to clear the danger, and felt the full force of Williamson’s chance from close range.

The striker was knocked to the ground from the impact and stayed down for a few moments while she received treatment.

However, one patched up bloody nose later and England was back on her feet and involved in the game once again.

She received praise online from fans, who applauded her for being “hard as nails.”

One supporter said she took the blow “like a champ.”
