Chelsea reject report of half-time Thomas Tuchel bust-up after Wolves draw

Chelsea have denied that Thomas Tuchel was involved in a half-time bust-up with Marcos Alonso at the weekend, according to a report.

Alonso was left unhappy after being subbed in the 2-2 draw with Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. Tuchel hauled the Spaniard off at the break with the game goalless, a decision which Alonso was unhappy with.

Saul Niguez replaced Alonso with Tuchel said to be furious with one incident in the first half.

That issue is understood to have been when Alonso’s ball inside went astray. Wolves tried to break quickly and there were calls from the Chelsea dugout. That prompted Alonso to respond and gesticulate back to the bench.

It was clear that Alonso, who was slow to recover, did not take kindly to the comments from the bench. But The Sun report that Chelsea have denied any bust-up between the pair during the interval.

Alonso, per the source, believed he was having his effort questioned and felt he was “made a scapegoat” for a poor team display.

Chelsea took a two-lead in the second half, but were pegged back late on in a 2-2 draw after Conor Coady scored a dramatic late equaliser.

The report, which has probably emerged via an agent or intermediary, claims Alonso is ready to face Leeds. The left-back is ready to put the incident behind him and appreciates Tuchel’s right to substitute him.

The Sun claims Tuchel is facing dressing-room “turmoil” as new American owner Todd Boehly prepares to take the reins.

Boehly, who is closing in on a £4.25bn takeover, was at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to watch Chelsea’s late collapse.

That prompted Tuchel to call in his players for extra training and a team meeting on their day off on Sunday.
