Chelsea now in 'advanced negotiations' over £13.5m star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have an “advanced negotiation” with Barcelona to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The ex-Arsenal striker has emerged as Thomas Tuchel’s top striker target as the transfer window moves closer to Thursday’s 11pm deadline.

When speaking to the press on Monday, Tuchel called for Todd Boehly to deliver him two new additions before the market closes for business, with Aubameyang one of those, while the other would appear to be Wesley Fofana, whose £70m arrival from Leicester is close to being completed.

Raheem Sterling remains the Blues’ only attacking addition this window and they’ve looked short on quality up front this season, scoring five goals in four games, three which came against teams who finished in the bottom half last term.

Therefore, the Guardian claim that Chelsea are still pushing to bring Aubameyang back to England, while Romano stated on Twitter that meetings were held yesterday, with ‘negotiations entering into key stages’.

But Romano reckons that everything is good to go from Aubameyang’s side, with the deal appearing to be held up by Barcelona.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “For Aubameyang, there is an advanced negotiation with Barcelona. It’s already agreed on the player’s side and they’re working on very different things.”

Something is clearly holding the deal up and it’s really starting to get the feeling of a last-gasp decision being made on deadline day, similar to Aubameyang’s move from Arsenal to Barcelona in January.

According to Goal, the Catalan giants want €25m, which shouldn’t prove an issue for the Londoners, who have already spent more than £150m this window, and will pass the £200m mark once Fofana’s switch is confirmed.
