Chelsea now facing battle over £100m forward at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea target Rafael Leao would prefer a move to Paris Saint-Germain if he is to leave AC Milan this summer, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

The talented 23-year-old has been linked with a move away from San Siro in recent weeks after he played a key role in the Rossoneri’s first Serie A title success in 11 years last term.

A recent report from The Guardian has revealed that Chelsea have identified both Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry and Leao as alternative targets to Raphinha.

David Ornstein of The Athletic disclosed that the Blues had agreed a £55 million deal with Leeds United for the Brazil international, but the player opted to join Barcelona instead.

It’s claimed that Gnabry could be a more attainable target than Leao due to his contract situation, while Milan may demand up to £100 million for their prized asset.

Meanwhile, Italian outlet La Gazetta dello Sport have claimed that negotiations are underway to extend the Portugal international’s stay in Milan.

Leao’s existing deal expires in the summer of 2024 and is said to be happy at the club, meaning securing his signature could prove to be a tricky task for Chelsea.

Chelsea has already snapped up Raheem Sterling from Manchester City and another wide attacker appears to be on Thomas Tuchel’s wish list.

However, their chances of bringing Leao to the club are looking slim as Jacobs has informed GiveMeSport that a switch to Ligue 1 is ‘his preference’.

He told GMS: “PSG are also chasing Leao and had an offer of around £60 million rejected; and I am told a move to France is his preference. Milan are still not ruling out Leao renewing either.”

Leao has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting young attackers since arriving from LOSC Lille in 2019
