Chelsea have shown Manchester United why they should take Djed Spence transfer gamble

When the time comes for Nottingham Forest supporters to cast their vote for their Player of the Season, they are probably going to find it a lot tougher than most other fanbases.

After finding themselves rock-bottom of the Championship table after their first seven matches this season, the City Ground outfit, with just three matches left to play, have a genuine chance of securing automatic promotion to the Premier League, currently finding themselves third in the table, just three points shy of second place.

Transformed under manager Steve Cooper, who replaced Chris Hughton in September, Forest have been a joy to watch this season, producing a string of outstanding performances both collectively and individually. In terms of individuals, Manchester United loanee James Garner, right-back Djed Spence and versatile attacker Brennan Johnson have been the stars of the show, each earning rave reviews throughout the season.

Garner, who has acted as the glue in Forest's midfield this term, producing a string of polished performances featuring neat passing as well as racking up eight assists in all competitions along the way, will return to Old Trafford in a few weeks' time ahead of a new chapter being opened ahead of next season. But could the 21-year-old, who is already being tipped to make a name for himself at United next season, be joined at the club by one of his current Forest teammates?
