Chelsea get green light for £50m transfer and it could be a double blow for Manchester United

Manchester United made a positive start to the summer transfer window on Sunday when they announced they had agreed the £62.5million transfer of Wolves star Matheus Cunha.

The Brazil international was United's top target in attacking midfield and his 17-goal haul at Molineux this season should help address United's goalscoring woes next term.

However, Ruben Amorim has warned that United must sell players this summer if they are to make multiple transfers and preferably for United those sales need to happen sooner in the window rather than later.

So news this morning of Chelsea's £50million move for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens is potentially bad news for United.

The Telegraph report that Enzo Maresca's side are in talks with the German giants and want to wrap up the move before the start of the Club World Cup later this month.

United had made the sales of Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Antony a priority this summer and the £25million Chelsea would pay to sign Sancho would have been an early boost for the transfer coffers.

Similarly, United are keen to sell Alejandro Garnacho this summer and Chelsea are among the clubs to hold an interest in the Argentina international.

But with a combined £80million already set to be spent on Gittens and Liam Delap, it remains to be seen if they will be willing to pay the money United would command for the 20-year-old who still has three years left on his contract.

Napoli are also said to be interested and United will hop the Italian champions follow through on
