Chelsea FC XI vs Lille: Starting lineup, confirmed team news and injury latest for Champions League tie today

Chelsea are not yet ready to welcome back Reece James as attentions turn to their Champions League clash with Lille.

The wing-back lost his race against time to start tonight’s last-16 second leg in northern France.

James sustained muscle damage against Burnley earlier this month, which forced him to miss Sunday’s 1-0 win against Newcastle.

But he has recovered sufficiently to put him on the verge of a return.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is another pushing to get back to action after not featuring since the win against Luton in the FA Cup following an Achilles problem, but also misses out on a place in the XI.

Tuchel said on Tuesday: “We will try to have Reece and Callum later in training but will be a very tight race.

“We will take this decision after the training session. They were not involved. Let’s see if it is worth the risk, it will be very tight with these two.”

Chelsea XI: Mendy; Christensen, Silva, Rudiger; Azpilicueta, Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Pulisic, Havertz.

Subs: Kepa, Bettinelli, Chalobah, Sarr, Kenedy, Loftus-Cheek, Mount, Vale, Ziyech, Werner, Lukaku.
