Chelsea could see Matthijs de Ligt bid HIJACKED by Bayern Munich
Chelsea could reportedly suffer a severe blow in their pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt, with Bayern Munich in line to submit a huge £76million offer for the Juventus defender.
The Blues were leading the way to sign the Holland international earlier in the week despite Bayern's interest with the German side thought to be unable to match the £68million the west London side were ready to offer the Italian outfit.
Chelsea have long identified De Ligt as a key transfer target this summer, with centre-backs including Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger having already left the club on the expiry of their contracts.
Yet according to Goal, Bayern are now ready to make a higher bid that consists of £63million up front with another £13m in add-ons and bonuses.
The report also adds that the German champions have already contacted Juventus and are in negotiations.
De Ligt still has two years left on his contract at the Allianz Stadium but is thought to not be interested in committing his future to the Turin outfit.
Juve are also open to selling the 22-year-old this summer or next year while he still holds strong financial value.
