Real Madrid's stunning late comeback against Manchester City on Wednesday night saw them book their place in the Champions League final where they will face Liverpool in Paris. It was a result that also meant Chelsea still stand to earn plenty of money from the competition themselves despite bowing out to Madrid themselves.

Thomas Tuchel's men looked set to progress to the semi-finals of the tournament after Mason Mount, Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner had inspired an impressive comeback of their own. But like so many before and since, they succumbed to the spirit of Carlo Ancelotti's side and crashed out in extra time.

But thanks to the transfer of Eden Hazard in the summer of 2019, Chelsea could still be set to benefit significantly from the tournament, despite the Belgian currently being sidelined with yet another injury. If Madrid can beat Liverpool in a repeat of the 2018 final, they will have to pay another set of add-ons to the Blues agreed at the time of the transfer.

Due to Hazard's poor injury record since arriving in the Spanish capital, individual performance-related add-ons have been hard to come by for Chelsea. But as Madrid continues to succeed elsewhere, so do the west Londoners. Last season saw them secure an extra £20million from the deal after winning La Liga and qualifying for the Champions League.
