Chelsea could now 'terminate contracts' of £39.7m duo after Ross Barkley

Chelsea are not against terminating the contracts of more of their players, claims journalist Simon Phillips.

The likes of Michy Batshuayi and Kenedy are not in Thomas Tuchel’s first-team plans, not receiving shirt numbers for the season, and Phillips says the west London club are now prepared to let them go for free, just like what they have done with Ross Barkley.

When it comes to outgoings, Batshuayi is one Chelsea player who has been touted to leave Stamford Bridge.

Recent reports suggest that the Belgian could be heading to Italian side Salernitana before the transfer window closes.

It would see him follow Barkley out of the club, with the England international leaving by mutual consent earlier today. The Sun claimed over the weekend that Chelsea had been weighing up offering Barkley a huge pay-off to terminate his contract.

He did not make any of their matchday squads this season and made just one start in the Premier League last term.

Phillips has told GIVEMESPORT that there is a good chance that Chelsea terminate the contracts of some of their other unwanted players, including Batshuayi and Kenedy, who have cost the club £39.7m in transfer fees combined.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “I wouldn’t rule out contract terminations for players such as Batshuayi.

“That was mentioned to me a few weeks ago, that if Chelsea still have players like him and Kenedy still in the squad come the last week, then they’re not against terminating their contracts just to move them on and give Tuchel a squad of players that, ideally, he’s going to be confident to pick.”
