Chelsea: Boehly 'wants' 102-goal star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea could still make a move for Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo before the end of the transfer window, believes journalist Simon Phillips.

Thomas Tuchel does not seem to have an interest in the Portugal forward, but Phillips says his boss Todd Boehly does.

At the end of last month, Sky Sports reported that Ronaldo had held talks with United about leaving the club this summer.

The above comes after The Athletic claimed in June that Chelsea co-owner Boehly and Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes had discussed a potential transfer to Stamford Bridge.

In the end, though, the west London club opted against making a bid for Ronaldo. As per The Telegraph, Boehly only intended to make a move for the 37-year-old if he got Tuchel’s approval, which evidently did not happen.

Chelsea have still been able to significantly improve their attack this transfer window, however, bringing in Raheem Sterling from Manchester City for £50m.

Phillips does not believe Ronaldo to Chelsea is completely dead yet and thinks his name could come up again at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “I think Ronaldo could come into the conversation again come the end of the window. Whether United would let him go or not is another situation, but Boehly wants him, and I think they could talk about him again before the end of the window.”

It is not impossible, especially with Timo Werner set to return to RB Leipzig.

The Telegraph’s Matt Law recently told the London Is Blue Podcast that Chelsea would bring in another forward if Werner departed west London.

Considering that, Ronaldo, who has scored 102 goals in the Premier League, could easily become a target again. With that being said, United are probably not going to play ball.
