Chelsea among four opponents on Man City US tour this summer

Manchester City will head to the United States for successive summers as they look to capitalise on their recent gains in one of the biggest markets.

Pep Guardiola's side already know that they will be in New York next year having qualified for the first edition of a revamped and extended Club World Cup. That competition will see 32 sides from across the continents battle it out to be crowned as the next world champions.

And they have decided to head there this summer as well in what will be a longer tour than they have recently undertaken. Across about two-and-a-half weeks in late July and early August, City will play Chelsea in Ohio and have fixtures lined up against top European sides in North Carolina, New York, and Orlando.

City will play their last fixture on August 3 before heading back to the UK. The Premier League does not start until August 17, although Guardiola's side will be hoping to be involved in the Community Shield for a fourth consecutive year.

The Blues travelled to Texas and Green Bay in 2022 on the back of signing Erling Haaland and saw their popularity in the country soar last season as they completed an historic Treble. City were the most-watched English team thanks to their triumphs in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League as well as the star names such as Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne that appeal to fans.

Last year they went to Japan and South Korea, where there had been a significant step forward in the club's visibility since they were last in Asia in 2019. Nearly 24,000 people turned up to see them
