Chelsea: £60m signing now ‘very real possibility’ at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea completing the signing of Everton winger Anthony Gordon this summer is still a ‘very real possibility’ at Stamford Bridge, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.
Thomas Tuchel has overseen a busy few months of business in west London but can still add further to his squad before the September 1 transfer deadline.
According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea are now prepared to pay up to £60 million to sign the England under-21 winger from Goodison Park.
The report maintains that Everton’s stance on the situation is that Gordon is not for sale this summer, however, it is understood that the player is eager to make the switch to the capital before the deadline passes.
Everton manager Frank Lampard recently hinted that whether they accept a proposal for their star will come down to both football and business reasons.
“It’s a serious situation on a football level and a club business level, simple as that,” he said ahead of Everton’s 1-1 draw with Notingham Forest.
“If you can join those two up and make the right decision, I will always consider the football one the most important because that is what my job will be judged on.”
Jacobs understands that there is a serious chance the Toffees academy graduate will be a Chelsea player come the end of the window.
He says that Gordon fits the bill for what the Blues are looking for this summer and that the deal is one to keep an eye on.
Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT: “Gordon’s a very real possibility. Chelsea are looking to buy young. So that is definitely one to watch between now and when the window closes.”
