Chelsea 2-4 Arsenal: Granit Xhaka's insane composure by his own box

Arsenal brought an end to their losing streak in style on Wednesday evening.

The Gunners went into their match against Chelsea on the back of three demoralising Premier League defeats against Crystal Palace, Brighton and Southampton.

Given their recent form and injury woes, not many gave Arsenal a chance at Stamford Bridge, but they certainly silenced their doubters.

Mikel Arteta’s side secured an emphatic 4-2 victory, with Eddie Nketiah scoring a brace.

Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka were also on the scoresheet, meaning every single goal scored by Arsenal came courtesy of a Hale End graduate.

It was certainly a London derby to remember for Gooners and arguably the best player on the pitch was the often-criticised Granit Xhaka.

The Swiss midfielder was exceptional in the middle of the park, with N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek unable to match his energy and calmness on the ball.

As well as dropping a middle of the park masterclass, Xhaka played a key role in the build-up to Arsenal’s second goal, which was scored by Smith Rowe.

In fact, the former Borussia Monchengladbach man morphed into prime Zinedine Zidane for five seconds by his own penalty area to kickstart the move.

Xhaka was put in a spot of bother by Rob Holding just outside Arsenal’s six-yard box, with Romelu Lukaku and Marcos Alonso closing in on him hoping for an error of judgement.

But instead of crumbling under the pressure and gifting Chelsea a goal, Xhaka brushed Lukaku aside and then nonchalantly nutmegged Alonso.

It really was as silky as it gets…
