Chelsea: £150k-a-week star to leave 'in next few days' at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga is likely end his four-year stay at Stamford Bridge in the coming days, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The 27-year-old signed from Athletic Bilbao for a record fee for a shotstopper, although Phillips believes he’s close to securing his Blues exit.

Having fallen behind Edouard Mendy following his arrival in 2020, which has restricted him to just 11 Premier League appearances, the Spain international is in talks over a move to Napoli.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Italian outfit are ‘close’ to reaching an agreement to bring Arrizabalaga to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

Di Marzio claims the Serie A outfit are expected to pay a 75 per cent of the goalkeeper’s £150,000 per-week wages, although Chelsea are still waiting to reach a final agreement.

Regardless, Phillips reckons Arrizabalaga’s move to Napoli to be confirmed before the weekend.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I haven’t heard any names of replacements, which is weird because Chelsea are very advanced with Napoli over those negotiations, and I think that will be done in the next two or three days; a loan move with an obligation to buy.”

When Arrizabalaga made the switch to Chelsea, he had already played regularly in La Liga, racking up more than 50 appearances in Spain’s top-flight, while he had already made his international debut.

But his time with the Blues simply hasn’t gone to plan. Despite making more than 100 appearances for the capital club, the majority of those have come in the cups and Europe in recent seasons.
