Chatham Town play Faversham Town in a friendly after weekend win against Coventry City during their community day event at the Bauvill Stadium

Chatham Town are back in action at home tonight after a fantastic Saturday on and off the pitch.

The Chats hosted a community day at the Bauvill Stadium ahead of their match against a young Coventry City side, who they beat 5-1.

Chatham are at home to last season’s SCEFL Premier Division champions Faversham Town tonight (Tuesday) in their fifth pre-season match of the summer.

Fans, new and old, enjoyed the pre-match entertainment at Chatham, prior to the City clash at the weekend. A crowd of 1,800 was there to see Kevin Hake’s men claim a big win, which included a first-half hat-trick from youngster Stanley Oldfield.

The forward spent last season on loan at Snodland Town, claiming some silverware after scoring twice in their 5-0 win over Forest Hill Park (SE Dons) in the final of the SCEFL Challenge Cup.

“Saturday was a fantastic day for the club, both on and off the pitch,” said manager and chairman Kevin Hake.

“The community day was a real success – we had great support, families down early, kids enjoying themselves, and it really showed what this club is about.

“Over 1,800 fans turned up and it was nice to see old and new faces come to the Bauvill

“On the pitch, I thought the lads were excellent.

“We played with energy, moved the ball well, and were ruthless when chances came.

“Stanley took his goals nicely against a Coventry team that were about the same age as him. The team worked incredibly hard, and it was the overall performance and attitude that impressed me most.”

Thanks for your amazing support today — as we celebrated our annual community day with a brilliant performance at the Bauvill, in front of a crowd of 1,800!
