Chatham Town face second placed Enfield Town at the Bauvill Stadium this Saturday in the Isthmian Premier | Ashley Nzala scored the winner against Wingate & Finchley on Tuesday night

Chatham boss Kevin Hake is looking forward to an electric atmosphere at the Bauvill Stadium this Saturday in a third versus second battle.

A last minute winner for the Chats earned them three points on Tuesday night against Wingate & Finchley as Hake’s men returned to action after having no game last weekend.

Saturday’s visitors Enfield Town occupy second spot in the Isthmian Premier Division - a point and a place better off than Hake’s side.

Both teams are keen to keep picking up wins to stop leaders Hornchurch from pulling too far clear. The Essex side already have the luxury of a 10-point gap at the top.

Hake said: “We’re facing another seasoned team at this level, who like us will be seeking to close the gap on the league leaders.

“It’s been a great start for us this season and the momentum of success over the last few seasons has carried us through well.

“There is no doubt there is a noticeable change in levels but the lads have adapted really well.

“Some difficult decisions have had to be made but that is to be expected when the rate of rise we are experiencing is that great.

“Two excellent disciplined performances against a top Whitehawk side (winning 1-0) and Wingate on Tuesday night has further cemented our position within the play-offs.

“Saturday will be no different, it’s a real battle for second spot and it’s the kind of game you get involved in football for.

“They will bring a good travelling crowd so the atmosphere at the Bauvill should be electric.”
