Charlton Athletic man makes Blackpool transfer admission
Charlton Athletic winger Charlie Kirk has admitted to the Blackpool Gazette that he is keen to seal a permanent move to Blackpool this coming summer.
The 24-year-old moved to Bloomfield Road on loan from the Addicks last month and has already racked up one assist for his new side as he looks to be getting some level of confidence back into his game after a tough start to his Charlton career.
Kirk’s loan deal is said to include an option for the Seasiders to make the move permanent, which means he could end his short lived and quite frankly forgetful spell with Charlton this coming summer.
And now the winger has admitted that his target is to secure a permanent move to the North West come the end of the season:
“Now I just want to play as often as I can and then hopefully I can make a permanent move here, but that’s obviously out of my hands.”
Kirk was signed by the Addicks from Crewe Alexandra over the summer and was viewed as the club’s marquee signing after making the move to the Valley.
However he struggled to make a lasting impact in a red shirt and was duly loaned out by Johnnie Jackson after he took over as manager from Nigel Adkins.
The Verdict
It is already clear from his comments that Kirk doesn’t want to stay at Charlton and as a result it could be a forgone conclusion that he will leave on a permanent deal.
The change of manager hasn’t helped him at the Valley and as a result he seems keen to have a fresh start in his career.
He quite simply hasn’t lived up to the hype which surrounded him when he arrived and perhaps has been a victim of too much pressure.
A move to Blackpool would be exactly what he needs right now.
