Charlie Savage responds to Alejandro Garnacho message to Manchester United fans

Young Manchester United hopeful Charlie Savage has reacted to a message sent to club fans by Alejandro Garnacho.

Savage was named on the bench for the club’s 1-0 final day loss to Crystal Palace but failed to get on the pitch. It means he continues to wait for a Premier League debut after coming on as a late substitute in United’s Champions League group stage game against Young Boys in December.

On Sunday, he watched academy teammate Garnacho enjoy 11 minutes of action in his second senior outing. The Under-18s player of the season lifted the FA Youth Cup earlier this month after firing two past Nottingham Forest in front of a near-capacity Old Trafford crowd.

This came after Garnacho was handed his United first team debut against Chelsea last month, coming on for a late cameo in the 1-1 draw at the Theatre of Dreams. It marks a fantastic season for the 17-year-old, who will be hoping Erik ten Hag has taken notice.

On Monday, the Argentine teenager posted a message on Instagram, sharing his delight after a memorable year. He said: “If at the beginning of the season, you tell me everything that has happened to me…a season to remember. Thanks Manchester United.”

Savage, 19, responded to the post with a simple “vamos” comment, which means ‘let’s go’ in Spanish. He was joined by several other academy prospects in reacting to Garnacho’s message.

Both Savage and Garnacho will be hoping to edge their way into ten Hag’s squad next season given his historic preference for young players in his Ajax teams. The likes of Charlie McNeill, Hannibal Mejbri and Under-23s player of the season Alvaro Fernandez will also be eyeing an opportunity amid the expected
