Charlie Adam to become Fleetwood boss as Burnley coach set to be unveiled as Lee Johnson successor

Charlie Adam is in line to become the new Fleetwood Town manager.

The Burnley coach and loans manager is set to succeed Lee Johnson, who was sacked on Friday. The former Rangers and Scotland star could be confirmed at the English League One side within the next 24-48 hours. Adam has made a real name for himself with Burnley under-23s and that has impressed Fleetwood chiefs who are set to give him his chance on the frontline.

Adam has knocked back several opportunities already but now feels the time his right. The former Liverpool player will follow in the footsteps of his former Scotland teammate Scott Brown who at the Fleetwood helm at the start of the season. They then replaced him with former Hibs boss Johnson but his time lasted less than two months. The club are facing a fight for survival in English League One with the club sitting second bottom.
